Lemon Drops and Bunny Hops

One of the greatest things about being back in Portland is that we can celebrate all of the grandparent's birthdays. The girls and I made a special lemon drop cake for Grandma Loeb's birthday dinner. We had such a fun time indulging in lemon drop martinis and then enjoying the tangy, sweet lemon cake. (By the way, I highly recommend the book, BAKED by Lewis & Poliafito...I have yet to wreck one of their recipes, which says a heap about these authors.)
On Easter, the sugar distribution went the opposite direction as the grandparents spoiled the girls with numerous egg hunts and treats. We had a fun brunch with the Loebs, and then headed caravan-style over to Easter dinner with the Buck family. A great Easter full of fun- and plenty of bunny hopping to search for treat-filled eggs.
And, of utmost significance, after an excruciatingly long Lenten-induced chocolate fast, I was able to indulge in all kinds of chocolate treats. In fact, my stomachache surpassed both girls' on account of the chocolate m&ms, chocolate trifle, malt balls, birds nests, and... well, to be honest, after that, I stopped keeping track. My stomach turns at the very thought of all that I ingested on Easter.
And speaking of the overindulging, I'm off to yoga class to hopefully make a small dent in the damage incurred from my chocoholic binge.
