When I was pregnant with Mary and Lucy, once their due dates had passed, I decided we needed to bake a birthday cake to give them some incentive to come out and actually HAVE a birth-day. Following with the tradition, today we made a special cake for this little one. We plan to enjoy it tomorrow night with a dear group of friends to show this baby how much love is waiting for him/her. Let's hope it works...otherwise, doctor-mandated eviction is coming soon.

Well, let me just say, if this was meant to be inspiration, it fell short. I used the Trader Joe's yellow cake mix and it tasted like heavy cornbread. I love (and recommend) their vanilla bean mix and chocolate mix, but the yellow...meh. Don't bother.
Anyway, cake or no cake, baby has to arrive to this week. Thanks for the good wishes.
