Artist in Residence

Mary is becoming quite the artist. Our house is literally covered in her masterpieces, such as this one of our family. (Greta is the blue figure with all of the extra limbs!!) Favorite subjects include fish, birds' nests, stick figures of our family members, and houses. And the earth which is a circle with four quadrants: gray for sky, blue for water, green for land, and yellow for sunshine. (Yes, we know, we have some serious remedial science lessons in front of us...but for now, we love her creativity!)

She is also getting very good with writing her alphabet. But the elusive "R" is tricky, so her name is spelled with two "Y"s she has decided. MAYY. Or sometimes YAMY or AMYY if she isn't careful about the order of things. ("Mom, you must just be teasing me because my name doesn't have any R's!")

We anticipate that Lucy will be a great artist someday, too. Right now, she tries to eat the crayons....not just a little nibble here or there. She gobbles them. Needless to say, her only "art time" is highly supervised.
