Spring is just around the corner, and we know this because Lent is upon us.
On Ash Wednesday, I asked Mary what she would like to give up for Lent, and her response (straight-faced, of course) was rapid-fire and only one word:
"Lucy."
After some discussion about the true spirit of the season, she finally decided she would draw pictures for blind people in hospitals during Lent. I was so overjoyed that she had the right concept at this point that I didn't bother with the obvious conflict of drawing pictures for the blind.
Another sign that spring is near: my heirloom seeds arrived in the mail. At our new house, we inherited four beautiful planter boxes for vegetables and I intend to use them. We planted our indoor seeds, which will later be transplanted after the last frost. Our first shoots are already up!
