We are pending...in every sense of the word. Waiting.....in limbo....hanging....basically in real estate pergatory. Three weeks ago, we had two good offers on our house, and our "for sale" home went "pending." Now, just two weeks before we were going to close escrow, the buyers have gotten cold feet and decided to back out of the offer. Our realtor warned us that this is a finicky market at best, a shaky market at worst.
We have never felt so uncertain about the future. We could find a new buyer (one couple saw the house today and seemed very interested), the existing buyers could change their minds, or we could be left in limbo for another few weeks or months. It's the uncertainty that is so hard. We are already one foot out the door (or state, to put it literally) and we need to move forward.
Tomorrow is the feast day of St. Joseph, patron saint of home sales according to real estate folklore. My mom has a St. Joseph statue coming in the mail to us. Let's hope good ol' St. Joe can assist from above.
