And then we were six...

Lucy's birthday week was a big one! Our first surprise was that Aunt Suzy came to visit-- and spent the better part of the week spoiling all of us. And that meant a surprise visit from Amy and our cousins, too, so that Aunt Suzy could spend time with them. This picture captures the pure essence of her visit. Lots of smiles, even more noise, and a few unhappy moments. Life with kids. Gloriously imperfect.

Cupcakes by Mary

For Lucy's big day, we went to Oaks Park to enjoy the rides and celebrate with cupcakes. A few friends joined the fun, and of course, our cousins, too. It was a wonderful morning. The best part was that Mary decorated Lucy's cupcakes. Didn't she do a marvelous job?

Cousin fun!

Once again, the roller coaster and the tilt-a-whirl were the popular ride choices. In a momentary lapse of judgment (truthfully, only because Chiara didn't meet the minimum height requirement to ride alone) I went on the tilt-a-whirl. I think I'm still spinning.....whew.

While cousin Chiara was in town, the girls went to our neighborhood paint studio to create original oil masterpieces. Check out our trio of zebras. Two of these are on display in our guestroom for all of you lucky future overnight visitors!

What a great celebration week for our Lucky Lu.
